February 19
- Warm hats
- Holiday non-holidays
- Yerba mate
The high temperature today did not leave the teens. I was not expecting this. Every time I stepped outside today I was cold for the 30 minutes that followed the stepping out. So. Cold. Fortunately, I have 2 (2.5?) hats that are up for the task of keeping me warm. So grateful.
“What is a holiday non-holiday?”, you may ask. My answer: a day like today. It is President’s Day in the U.S. and the company I work for discontinued it as a paid holiday this year and gave us a floating holiday to use at our discretion. Which could include President’s Day, were you so inclined to take it.
Or, in cases like mine, you could just to save that day and work. And it was a glorious decision! Even with a light snow falling this morning, I was in to work in 15 minutes. Which is around the quickest of times for my commute. Same thing on the way home, no traffic!
In the office was special as well. There were some people, so you had that good colleague energy. But it was a slower day. There was time to get done the sorts of things you always want to get done. And it felt great!
I do enjoy being home on holidays. And when it so happens that work doesn’t align with those holidays, well, that turns out to be pretty great, too.
