Extravaganza might be overselling it. We’ve reached a time, in terms of length of relationship and individual time on Earth, where a discrete celebration of a birthday is more likely to sprawl into events the celebratee prefers.
Case in point, ABC took a day to herself. Why might this be preferred? Have you ever homeschooled 3 young children, effectively spending 7 days a week, 13 hours a day, with your beloveds? If so, you likely understand the premium value that is time to yourself without any obligations nor plans. Early reports are in: it was delightful.
On the actual day of birth, we were treated to a Super Blood Wolf Moon!
We were able to catch a glimpse of it the night before. And the internet caught high-res images of it for all of us. Wee!
Once the day was rolling, the birthday woman chose Sweet Cow as our dessert destination. As you can see at the top, we enjoyed ourselves. They rotate flavors and keep some consistently on the board. And everything. Tastes. Amazing. Every time. I don’t know how they do it.
The one drawback to gorging oneself on fantastic ice cream is the need to take a nap afterwards. At least, that was the direction I was heading. The woman of honor lightly suggested I go for that bike ride I had been wistfully talking about. After initially resisting, I followed her advice (this is a pattern, friends) and I’m so glad I did. I felt tremendously better, afterwards.
We finished off the night with a family dinner at Flower Child, in Boulder. Our diet consists of a lot of ancestral foods (idk?) and this place nails it. You know who didn’t nail it? ^ That guy on the bike path. He forgot to take a picture of the festivities. Hahahahah.
Thanks ABC. We love you and are so incredibly fortunate to be your humans.
