Thank and Grow Rich – Day 17

17 February 201918 February 2019 - Wes Books, Family, Growth, Life
Black and white picture of snow falling against a dark background.

We still get excited with each snowfall. Even the little ones. It’s just. so. pretty. And this year, it seems to be snowing more frequently. Delightful!

Thank and Grow Rich – Day 16

Trees with blue sky and clouds in the background. Tallest tree appears to be decades old.

Am I trying to control something that hasn’t happened or already happened and either way I have zero chance of controlling it? Relax the shoulders.

Thank and Grow Rich – Day 15

15 February 201915 February 2019 - Wes Books, Family, Growth, Life
Bokeh-like circles of oranges and yellows melding over a red background.

As a couple, Valentine’s Day had an artificial feel to it. With kids, the spark and loveliness of speaking your fondness for others became contagious!

Thank and Grow Rich – Day 14

sunrise over the ocean. clouds are pink and orange.

I used to think Edna Mode was hilarious in saying “I never look back. It distracts from the Now” but I am quickly coming around to that way of thinking.

Thank and Grow Rich – Day 13

A clear plastic cup of black coffee with ice in it, positioned in front of an open laptop and monitors.

We’ve known each other for 18 years, now, and we’ve been a couple for the last 13 years. You could say we’ve been around each other quite a bit.

Thank and Grow Rich – Day 12

Pink and orange clouds on the western horizon over homes, trees, and backyards.

I’m sorry. Sorry for being in your way. Sorry for not driving the speed you want. Sorry for walking in front of you. Or, I used to be. Now, not as much.

We like to take time out of life’s daily routines to nurture connections. One parent, one child, out of the house. That time is precious.

Thank and Grow Rich – Day 10

10 February 201910 February 2019 - Wes Books, Growth, Life
Plastic orange army man standing in a hole amidst kinetic sand

We had a quiet day in. So part of our time was spent on finding things to do around the house. I went with an oldie and pulled out the kinetic sand.

Thank and Grow Rich – Day 9

Young human in park playing with a bubble maker.

After admiring the work of others for so long, I created my own thing. It feels good. This is a tribute to creators and to sitting down to do the work.

Thank and Grow Rich – Day 8

Parking lot in commercial space with unplowed snow and tire tracks.

I had to drop something off at the post office today and, behold! In front of me was a parking lot that had not been plowed after yesterday’s snow.

I am just like you and also different in lots of ways but still so similar. I have hopes and dreams and reality often tries to sidetrack those things. So I am pushing against what is normal (to me) and doing my best to teach my kids and each other how to pursue what excites us and makes us come alive. The world needs more people living, not just existing.
